Artist Statement:
Cherry Inhale is a visual translation of a single, deliberate breath.

Rooted in the concept of a heart-opening practice, Anahata, the piece explores the profound vulnerability required to expand the chest and take up space. A chest opener is not a forced stretch, but a gentle unfurling—a moment where the ribcage softens, the shoulders melt back, and the lungs fill completely.

The deep maroon and cherry tones represent the sweet, visceral ache of release—the tender core of the heart center. Surrounding it, sweeping strokes of blush, rose, and thick white mimic the fluid motion of breath entering the body. The white passages act as the inhale itself: swirling, weightless, and softly illuminating the darker, denser emotions beneath.

The title, Cherry Inhale, is an invitation. It asks the viewer to pause, to soften, and to imagine a breath so full and sweet it feels like tasting something delicate.
